How to Create New GL Account Cards

Viewing the Chart of Accounts

Step 1 – Navigate to the Home page, use the Search box to find ‘Chart of Accounts'. Select the related Chart of Accounts link.

This will open the Company’s chart of accounts where you can view all the general ledger accounts page.

 

Step 2 – In the No. Column or in the Balance column, you will see figures highlighted in Blue, click on them to open the GL account.

Step 3 – Once you open the GL card, you will see a view like in the screenshot below.

Step 4 – You can view the Ledger entries of the specific GL account opened by clicking on the Account Header tab and then clicking on the Ledger Entries Action Tab.

 

Creating a New GL Account

Step 1 – Navigate to the Home page, use the Search box to find ‘Chart of Accounts'. Select the related Chart of Accounts link.

Step 2 – Once you are in the chart of accounts you can click on “+New” to start creating a new GL account.

Step 3 – Once you open the new GL card, you will see a view like in the screenshot below (but with empty fields).

Step 4 – Input the necessary details in the General, Posting, Consolidation and Reporting fields. Fields marked with (*) are mandatory. 

  • No. -This is the unique identification number.
  • Name - This is the name of the G/L account. 
  • Account Type - This specifies the type of account, such as Asset, Liability, Income, Expense, etc. 
  • Account Subcategory – Choose from the drop-down menu. 
  • Income Statement/Balance - This is the code that identifies the G/L account on the income statement or Balance statement. 
  • VAT Business Posting Group - This is the VAT (Value-Added Tax) code.  
  • General Posting Group -   This is the posting group to which the G/L account belongs. 
  • Gen. Product Posting Group - This is the general product posting group associated with the G/L account. 
  • Gen. Business Posting Group - This is the general business posting group associated with the G/L account. 
  • Blocked - This indicates whether the G/L account is blocked for posting or not.

 

Step 5 – Once you enter the details, the GL card will be saved.
